We are pleased to announce the first successful applications to our Community Grants scheme funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Four organisations providing opportunities within the scheme area have between them been awarded a total of £5,750 in the first round of applications.

Our congratulations go to FISH 2013 who have been awarded £975 to support four angling taster days to promote the sport of fishing on the River Trent at Burton Upon Trent. Fish 2013

Staffordshire Care Rural Development CIC has been awarded £2000 to support wildlife and habitat conservation volunteering on the River Dove through their WELLIES project. WELLIES work with adults suffering from poor mental health. The grant will allow them to run sessions making bird and bat boxes and put them up on land along the River Dove, providing opportunities to learn practical conservation and woodworking skills. Staffordshire Care Rural Development CIC

Branston Friends have been awarded £775 for the creation of a walking leaflet and planting a mix of native and decorative flower bulbs in Branston.

Finally, Burton Swans have been awarded £2000 to support their Cygnet Project by funding an artist to visit local schools with a smaller cygnet version of their swans for pupils to decorate; bringing art and the heritage of Burton Upon Trent to life for local school children. Burton Swans
